  1. 13th African Regional Meeting

    The proposed agenda of the Meeting is to discuss progress made by the countries in the region towards achieving the targets set by the Decent Work Agenda in Africa, 2007-15, adopted by the 11th African Regional Meeting, as well as to set out future priority actions for the region to achieve the Decent Work Agenda in Africa.

  2. National Consultation Seminar on assessing the economic contribution of labour migration in Ghana (ECLM project)

    A National Consultation Seminar was held in Accra on May 26, 2015, and brought together more than 50 policymakers, government officials and experts to discuss on various aspects of the role of migrant labour in Ghana, in the context of the "Assessing the economic contribution of labour migration in developing countries as countries of destination" (ECLM) project.     Members States of the African Union, Regional Economic Communities and International Organisations gathered in Kigali, Rwanda strongly recommended the elaboration of a roadmap for the implementation of the Joint Labour Migration Programme (JLMP) in Africa.

  3. Support to Free Movement of Persons and Migration in West Africa

    ILO is part of the consortium implementing the project funded by the EU under the 10th European Development Fund. The overall objective of the project is to maximize the development potential of free movement of persons and migration in West Africa. This will be done by supporting the effective implementation of the ECOWAS Free Movement of Persons’ Protocols, Labour and Employment Policy and Action plan adopted in 2009 and the ECOWAS Common Approach on Migration and ECOWAS Plan of Action Against Trafficking in Persons, first adopted in 2001.

    In a combined effort to promote the Joint Labour Migration Programme, the African Union, the ILO, the UNECA and the IOM briefed Member States, the RECS and development partners on the new strategic initiative for effective governance of labour migration and mobility in Africa.
