    A National Consultation Seminar was held in Kigali on September 25, 2015, and brought together 35 policymakers, government officials and experts to discuss on various aspects of the role of migrant workers in Rwanda, in the context of the "Assessing the economic contribution of labour migration in developing countries as countries of destination" (ECLM) project.     The African Union Commission (AUC), the ILO, the IOM and the UNECA are implementing the Joint Labour Migration Program (JLMP) for Africa formally adopted in January 2015 by African Heads of State and Government as a comprehensive programme on labour migration governance for the region.

    The International Labour Organization (ILO,) the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) of Ethiopia engaged more than 80 young Ethiopian trainee diplomats to brief them about existing challenges on labour migration and opportunities in an era of global socio-economic transformation.
