Temporary Agency Work: What the unions expect from the ILO

Last October, the Trade Union Confederation of the Americas (TUCA) launched a new study on temporary agency work in eight Latin American countries with the support of the ILO Bureau for Workers' Activities (ACTRAV). The study which had been carried out during 2012-2013, highlights in particular the need to counter the expansion of agency work and to set limits to outsourcing strategies. In this context, union representatives explain what they expect from the ILO with regard to Convention 181 and, more broadly, to short-term employment agencies.

ILO Deputy Director General calls for faster implementation of the new labour law in Bangladesh

Opening the conference “Bangladesh 2013: The Rising Demand for Labour Standards”, ILO Deputy Director General Gilbert Houngbo called for faster implementation of the new labour law to protect workers after the Rana Plaza building collapse which killed 1,130 workers in Bangladesh six months ago.

Americas: Unions launched a new study on Temporary Agency Work

A new study concerning temporary agency work in eight countries in Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Panama and Uruguay) was been launched in Geneva by the Trade Unions Confederation of Americas (TUCA) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC), with support of ILO Bureau for Workers Activities (ACTRAV).
