The Director-General meets the Workers’ Group

Geneva, 10 June 2011 (ACTRAV INFO) – On the sidelines of the 100th session of the International Labour Conference, ILO Director-General Juan Somavia met members of the Workers’ Group.

In his address, the Director-General hailed trade unions’ engagement in the democratization process within their countries. He encouraged workers and trade unions to continue their struggle for the strengthening of Decent Work for all, and he emphasized the ILO’s commitment to support social dialogue, with the assistance of the trade unions.

The Director-General paid tribute to Sir Roy Trotman, who has just retired after three terms of office as the Worker Vice-Chairperson of the Governing Body.
