Vietnam: Symposium on Strengthening the Role and Representation of Workers and Collective Bargaining

ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ILO-ACTRAV) took part in a seminar in Hanoi on the strengthening of the role and representation of workers and collective bargaining.

Hanoi, 18 May 2011 (ACTRAV INFO) – On 17-18 May 2011, the Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ILO-ACTRAV) took part in a seminar in Hanoi on the strengthening of the role and representation of workers and collective bargaining, organized by the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour.

During the session, ACTRAV Director Dan Cunniah emphasized that economic growth must be accompanied by respect for workers’ rights. “We hope that respect for workers’ rights, particularly freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining will accompany economic growth,” he declared. “This should take place within a context of respect for international standards, including the ILO Conventions and Recommendations.”
