New ILO Manual on Productivity Improvement for the Unions

The Workers’ Education Manual on “Productivity Improvement and the Role of Trade Unions” is being launched today Tuesday 17 November at the regional seminar organized by the Bureau for Workers ‘Activities (ACTRAV), the Japan Trade Union Confederation (JTUC-RENGO) and hosted by the Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) in Gaborone, Botswana. In this interview, the ACTRAV focal point on Employment, Mohammed Mwamadzingo explains the issues surrounding the topic of productivity in the world of work, and particularly on the trade union movement.

International Labour Conference 2015: What were the results for the workers?

The 104th session of the International Labour Conference was characterized by the Committee on the Application of Standards resuming its work, examining 24 individual cases of violations of international labour standards. In this interview, President of the Workers’ Group, Luc Cortebeeck, shares the workers’ perspective on the work of that Committee. Mr Cortebeeck also talks about the other issues discussed at this session, such as the transition from the informal to the formal economy, social protection, the discussions about small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and the creation of decent and productive jobs, as well as the Director-General’s report on the Future of Work.

Tripartite Dissemination Workshop in Enabling Environment for Sustainable Enterprises (EESE) in Indonesia

The Bureau for Workers Activities (ILO-ACTRAV) in collaboration with the ILO Small Enterprise Programme participated at the tripartite dissemination workshop held in Jakarta on 9 February 2012. The workshop provided an opportunity to launch the report entitled “Indonesia: An enabling environment for sustainable enterprises assessment and a survey on workers’ perception” jointly authored by Graeme Buckley and ACTRAV’s senior economist, Mohammed Mwamadzingo.
