Maria Helena ANDRE, Director of the ILO’s Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) explains different scenarios, which may affect the future of trade unions. She stresses also the ILO’s expectations vis-à-vis the important role of workers’ organizations to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and reinforce trade union movement.

A session of the international roundtable “The Role of Trade Union Education in Shaping the Future of Work” was held on March 5 at the Academy of Labour and Social Relations (ALSR) to commemorate the centenary of the institution. The event was attended by representatives of the Federation of Independent Trade Unions of Russia (FITUR), International Labour Organisation (ILO), countrywide trade unions as well as educational institutions of both Russian and international trade unions.

In late March, a delegation of the ILO Bureau for Workers’ Activities (ACTRAV) headed by Maria Helena Andre, ACTRAV Director, visited the Russian Federation. The programme of the visit included participation in international trade union fora, meetings with heads of trade union associations and staff of the ILO Moscow Office.
