President of Georgia assures ILO representatives of his full support to improving work safety and labour rights

Today H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia, discussed labour safety issues with representatives of trade unions and the Inernational Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on the recent tragic workplace incidents in coalmines in the city of Tkibuli, mechanisms for labour inspection to prevent such accidents and Georgian labour legislation that, according to President Margvelashvili, requires further improvement.

On 28 to 30 September 2016, Tbilisi, Georgia, hosted a training seminar on international labour standards and national implementation mechanisms. The event was organized by ITC-ILO in Turin and the ILO.

Rail unions focus on organising and promoting ILO conventions
