President of Georgia assures ILO representatives of his full support to improving work safety and labour rights

Today H.E. Giorgi Margvelashvili, President of Georgia, discussed labour safety issues with representatives of trade unions and the Inernational Labour Organization (ILO). The meeting focused on the recent tragic workplace incidents in coalmines in the city of Tkibuli, mechanisms for labour inspection to prevent such accidents and Georgian labour legislation that, according to President Margvelashvili, requires further improvement.

Employment is one of the topics of discussion at the 103rd International Labour Conference which is being held from 28 May to 12 June 2014 in Geneva. The following is an interview with Ms. Marie-Louise Knuppert, elected Confederal Secretary of LO Denmark who expresses her views on the employment situation in Denmark. She also underlines the importance of social dialogue to reinforce decent work for all workers.
