ILO in partnership with the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI) launches the 5th Cycle of the Human Resources & Gender Academy
The ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP) supported the development of the Human Resources and Gender Academy as a new service of the Federation of Egyptian Industries, through its Women in Business Unit (WiB) in cooperation with its Labour Affairs Unit.
In partnership with the Federation for Egyptian Industries (FEI), the ILO undertook the 5th cycle of the Human Resources & Gender Academy from March 6th to March 31st 2022.
To date, the Academy has trained more than 90 human resources managers and personnel from over 65 companies serving more than 11000 indirect beneficiaries. This cycle, that was organized in Aswan for the first time, trained 15 participants, of which 2 women, from companies of varying sizes. Participants joined the Academy from Aswan, Luxor, and Assiut. At the closing, participants expressed their gratitude as the Academy helped them address and overcome some of the enterprise level challenges they face pertaining to high labour turnover, professionalizing labour relations and increasing their compliance with national labour legislation.
To further ensure the sustainability of the Academy, FEI with the support of the ILO had recently undertook a training of trainers for the Academy. During this Cycle, participants from that training of trainers were increasingly engaged apart from the key experts. At the same time, FEI has started charging enterprises for the participation in the Academy, another important steps towards the Academy’s sustainability.
This support to the FEI is provided through a cooperation of the ILO’s development cooperation programs “Promoting Gender-Responsive Workplaces in Egypt” and “Decent Work for Women in Egypt, Jordan and Palestine”. The Federation of Egyptian Industries - Egypt’s employers’ organization - represents 20 industrial chambers and 102,000 industrial enterprises, accounting for more than two million workers and 18% of the national economy.
