Joint call by the International Organisation of Employers (IOE) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) on Governments to intensify efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

ITUC and the IOE appeal to governments to increase efforts on SDGs, and particularly on SDG 8

According to the United Nations, so far progress to meet SDG targets is not advancing as it should be. To improve this process, IOE and ITUC made a joint appeal on governments to increase efforts on SDGs, and particularly on SDG 8. SDG 8 promotes sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all.

Both IOE and ITUC want governments to be more active in job creation and decent work together with responding to technology-driven future of work challenges.

This joint call by the two organisations aims to push particularly governments in meeting their commitments especially linked to the world of work. The focus should be on:

employment opportunities, especially for young workers; reducing informal employment, labour market inequality and gender discrimination; improving resource efficiency in consumption; promoting safe and secure working environments; and improving access to financial services.

In addition, social partners are willing to support on this endeavors.
