July: The unemployment rate marginally decreased to its lowest level of 4.3 percent.
Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 209,000 in June. Job gains occurred in food services and drinking places (+53,000), professional and business services (+49,000), and health care (+39,000). Jobs in manufacturing increased slightly (+16,000).
Job creation for the past two months has been steady, but is lower in comparison to the observed levels for the same period in 2016.
The labor force participation rate for the month is 62.9 percent. This rate has been consistent on net over the year.
