February: Solid job creation for the last two consecutive months and unemployment fell slightly.
- Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 235,000 in February. The major drivers of job growth were private educational and health services (+62,000), construction (+58,000), and manufacturing (+28,000) sectors.
- The unemployment rate, at 4.7%, showed a slight decline in February. Jobless rates for both adult men and women remained 4.3% but 15% among teenagers.
- Gender gap in labor force participation persisted: 57% for females while 68.8% for males. While 30.7% of women are reported to work less than 35 hours per week, this ratio is 18.5% among men.
