November: unemployment rate fell to a lowest level since the global economic crisis.

  1. The unemployment rate declined to 4.6 percent in November - the lowest level since August 2007. Nonetheless, long-term unemployment changed little (24.8 %).
  2. Total nonfarm payroll employment increased by 178,000 in November, employment continued to trend up in professional and business services (+63,000) and health care (+34,700).
  3. Average hourly earnings for all employees on private nonfarm payrolls declined by 3 cents to $25.89 in November, following an 11-cent increase in October.
