On March 8, the report was launched at the Gallup headquarters in Washington, DC, with the presence of ILO Director-General, Guy Ryder, the CEO of Gallup, Jim Clifton, and a distinguished panel that presented their views on the report findings and their personal knowledge and experiences on women at work.

Washington, DC - On International Women’s Day, ILO Director-General Guy Ryder presided at the presentation of the new ILO-Gallup report, “Towards a better future for women and work:  Voices of women and men.  The report provides a first-ever account of global attitudes and perceptions of women and men regarding women and work.  The Washington event on 8 March, included Jim Clifton, Gallup Chairman and CEO, Nobel Laureate Sir Angus Deaton, Chair and CEO of Care International, Sheila Lirio Marcelo, and Businesswoman and actress Eva Longoria.  Discussants Neli Esipova, Gallup leading researcher and Susan Maybud, ILO Senior Gender Specialist presented and discussed the results.  DG Ryder highlighted that, “most women and men around the globe prefer that women have paid jobs”. Family-supportive policies, which enable women to remain and progress in paid employment and encourage men to take their fair share of care work, are crucial to achieving gender equality at work, he underscored.
