The ILO and the OAS

The ILO serves as a multilateral partner to assist implementation of the Inter-American and Summits Agendas to promote decent work, increase social and labor inclusion to reduce inequality, and expand and strengthen social protection programs for workers. The Washington Office coordinates with the ILO's Regional and Sub-regional Offices in the Americas and serves as a liaison with the OAS through participation in regular technical-level meetings and coordination efforts and contributions to the Joint Summit Working Group (JSWG).

The Summits of the Americas brings together the thirty-four democratically elected Heads of State and Governments of the Americas to review challenges that the region faces in order to seek shared solutions and improve the quality of their citizens' lives. The Summits of the Americas Process is a commitment to hemispheric integration and national and collective responsibility for improving the economic well-being and security of people.
