| Wages, working time, work organization, arrangements to adapt working life to the demands of life outside work, and working conditions are core elements of the employment relationship and of workers' protection. They are major dimensions of human resources management at the enterprise level, collective bargaining and social dialogue as well as socio-economic policies of governments. These terms and conditions of employment are therefore crucial aspects of decent work at the enterprise level.
The Conditions of Work and Employment Programme (TRAVAIL) develops comparative analysis and technical cooperation tools aimed at assisting and encouraging ILO constituents to improve the conditions of employment of workers on each of these topics. Moreover, the Programme is developing an integrated approach to these issues, taking into account the interaction between all these elements in order to better understand the factors that affect the protection of workers. Ultimately, the Programme should help in elaborating economic and social policies better adapted to changes of economic, social and demographic contexts. The Programme is carrying out analysis of data gathered by the Office and policies applied in the member States, as well as establishing technical cooperation mechanisms in the following areas: working time and work organization; wages and incomes; work and family, maternity protection; conditions of work; harassment, stress and violence; and special terms and conditions of employment. |
