International Labour Organization (ILO) and Japan Consumers’ Cooperative Union (JCCU) have been jointly organizing a study tour for East African cooperative leaders since 2010 with the aim of capacity building of the cooperative movements in Africa. This year marks the 6th year of the Study Tour and cumulatively 28 cooperative leaders from eight countries, namely Ethiopia, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe have participated in the Study Tour.
This year, five leaders from Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda and Zimbabwe will take part in the study tour. The purpose of the seminar is to make a presentation on the cooperative movement in these four countries; the organizations they come from; and what they will have learnt from the Japanese cooperative activities through the study tour.
