Project Launch: Labour Mobility for Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience in the Pacific

Objectives

  • To launch the project ‘Labour Mobility for Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience in the Pacific’
  • To discuss and elicit feedback on the project from key project stakeholders
  • To contribute to regional coordination on labour mobility

Background

ILO and IOM will jointly launch for the project “Labour Mobility for Sustainable Development and Climate Resilience in the Pacific” funded by the Migration Multi Partner Trust Fund. The overall objective of this joint project is to enhance the benefits of safe and fair migration as a sustainable development and climate resilience strategy in the Pacific, with a focus on Vanuatu, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Kiribati and Tuvalu. The launch will be an opportunity to raise awareness of the project commencement, labour mobility initiatives in the Pacific, the connections between climate change and labour mobility and to contribute to coordination among different labour mobility stakeholders.
