ILO-UNESCO-World Bank Webinar on TVET and skills development in the time COVID-19

The webinar will take place on Monday, 1 February 2021 from 14:30 - 16:00 (CET).

Background

The ILO, the UNESCO and the World Bank jointly implemented an online survey between 5 April and 15 May 2020, which aimed to gather information on good practices and share knowledge among TVET providers to mitigate the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic in the areas of education and training. Based on the survey findings, the three institutions have published the final report, “Skills development in the time of COVID-19: Taking stock of the initial responses in technical and vocational education and training”.

The purpose of this webinar is to share the main findings of this publication, and bring together TVET providers, policymakers and social partners to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in an effort to address current and future crises in the delivery of TVET. The panel session will include some of the survey respondents who will share challenges and solutions in coping with the crisis since the survey.

Objective

The webinar will aim to shed light on:
  • How the pandemic has disrupted TVET, and the main challenges faced by TVET institutions during this crisis;
  • The key policy responses and training measures to ensure the continuity of TVET provision; and
  • How TVET stakeholders are preparing to address the aftermath of COVID-19 and to strengthen the resilience and responsiveness of TVET systems to future shocks.
