Conference paper | 20 April 2015
The focus on greater quality and equity of learning outcomes has profound implications for teaching practice. Teachers are expected to develop a broad repertoire to help diverse students to achieve to high levels, to personalize learning and motivate students, to engage with their peers, parents and community members, to stay in touch with developments in their field, to integrate new classroom technologies, to adopt new assessment approaches, and to adapt teaching to meet learner needs.

Teacher appraisal can be a powerful way to support improvements in the quality of teaching and learning, teachers’ career development, and to ensure school and teacher accountability.
