International Seminar on Occupational Safety and Health in the Oil and Gas Industry and State Control

The international seminar was jointly organized by the ILO and the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection of the Population, Republic of Kazakhstan. The International Seminar took place on 4-5 November 2010, at the Auditorium of the Tengis Chevroil Company, Atyrau, Republic of Kazakhstan. The International Seminar consisted of the five topics: (1) social dialogue on occupational safety and health in the oil and gas industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan; (2) regulating occupational safety and health in the oil and gas industry – risk identification; (3) occupational safety and health management systems; (4) best practices for promoting preventative safety and health culture at work; (5) systems of training and knowledge management on occupational safety and health. Approximately 170 participants participated in the International Seminar. The International Seminar adopted Conclusions for improving the occupational safety and health and social dialogue in the petroleum industry in the Republic of Kazakhstan.
