  1. G20 capacity building on social protection: executive course

    11 - 22 March 2013

    Following the E-Learning phase, this course provides a comprehensive overview of the present state of social security around the world, an identification of the main social security challenges in terms of coverage, adequacy and financing, and an overview of national and ILO policy responses to the challenges.

  2. Financing and governance of social security

    11 - 22 March 2013

    This course is organized by the ILO International Training Centre and will take place from 4 to 8 November 2013. It will develop conceptual and technical capacities to understand actuarial studies and analyze the financing of social security systems. This course is in Spanish.

  3. Social Health Protection: addressing inequities in access to health care

    11 - 22 March 2013

    This course is organized by the International Training Centre of the ILO. Held in English and French (simultaneous interpretation provided) the course will identify inequities in effective access and main causes, review the importance of universal access to health care in crisis and post crisis situations, issues related to the feasibility of introducing a scheme and planning for implementation; designing the appropriate contribution levels and benefi ts, monitoring the provision of services and ensuring the sound governance and financing of the scheme.

  1. South-South exchange Sub-regional Workshop on strategies for universal health coverage

    20 - 22 February 2013

    Between 20th and 22nd February, as part of an on-going ILO South-South cooperation project, line ministers from Burkina Faso, Benin, Togo, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali and Senegal will participate in a sub-regional conference on strategies to promote and extend universal health coverage. The conference is co-hosted by the World Health Organization, and will provide an opportunity for government representatives, who are currently developing strategies to extend health coverage as part of establishing social protection floors, to learn from the experiences of two other countries in the South: India and Thailand.

  2. Master in Occupational Safety and Health

    3 February - 22 March 2013

    The general objective of the course is to facilitate the knowledge and skills required for dealing effectively with safety and health management in the enterprise. The course has been specifically designed for hygienists, physicians, chemists, engineers, inspectors, practitioners and civil servants with a university degree but without previous specialization in OSH, who are working, or wish to work, as OSH specialists.

Executives, managers, planners, financial officers and other professionals of healthcare and health insurance schemes, both in governments and non-governmental sectors.

Co-sponsored by United Nations’ DESA’s Division of Social Policy and Development & Freidrich-Ebert-Stiftung. “The Social Protection Floor Initiative”: Universal access to basic social protection and social services is necessary to break the cycle of poverty and reduce inequality and social exclusion. A basic social protection floor is affordable; its benefits need to be weighed against the potentially high human, social and economic costs of not investing in social protection.

  3. International Conference on Universal Health Coverage

    24 - 28 January 2012

    The Prince Mahidol Award Conference 2012 will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, during the week of 24-28 January 2012. Sponsored by the Prince Mahidol Award Foundation and co-sponsored by other global partners, such as the World Bank and the World Health Organisation, the conference will focus on the extension of universal health coverage. The participants will discuss issues such as: the need to position universal health coverage in the global and national development agendas; the necessity to identify factors contributing to the success of health financing reforms; and the opportunity to review and share experiences among various countries at different stages of development.
