Capacity Building for Migration Management in China - Newsletter July 2009

Update about the ‘Capacity Building for Migration Management in China’ Project, which is co-implemented by the ILO and IOM, in close partnership with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Human Resources and Socurity, and the Ministry of Public Security of the People's Republic of China.

This project is principally financed by the European Commission, with co-funding from the Italian Ministry of Interior and the United Kingdom Border Agency. The project seeks to promote cooperation between China and the EU in field of migration through the exchange of expertise, information and personnel. The components of the project include raising awareness of the risks associated with irregular migration.
The newsletter gives an update about activities, including a workshop for Law Enforcement Agencies, an advocacy campaign on Safe Migration which reaches more than 13,000 People in Fujian Province, two Training seminars for private recruitment agencies convened to promote their self-regulation capacity in Liaoning and Fujian provinces. The ILO also supports China’s migration policy review and capacity building for provinces
