The Conference dealt with the most effective immigration, policing, and judicial strategies to reduce human trafficking, the international cooperation, aid and technical assistance, the links to forced labour, the border measures needed, the prosecution of criminal gangs, the retrafficking cycle, and the support to victims of trafficking.

This Summit is the launch of a two-year initiative that will focus attention on corporate social responsibility to combat human trafficking and forced labour in Asia. It will showcase innovative business practices that are curbing human trafficking for both labour and sexual exploitation.

The Council of Europe has prepared a study on the misuse of internet for the recruitment of victims of trafficking in human beings. In order to contribute to the preparation of this study, the seminar held in Strasbourg on 7 and 8 June 2007 discussed the different methods used for the recruitment of victims on the internet and possible legislative, administrative and technical measures to combat this misuse. Representatives of the countries which had ratified the Council of Europe Convention on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings, EUROPOL, EUROJUST, ILO, national polices forces and non-governmental organisations attended the seminar.
