ILO in Haiti

Over a decade after the earthquake of 2010 and five years after Hurricane Matthew devastated the same region in 2016, Haiti got struck in August 2021 by another earthquake that left over 2,200 people dead and 12,200 injured. Almost 53,000 homes have been destroyed and more than 77,000 have sustained damage.

As the international community strives to bring relief to the suffering and respond to urgent needs, the ILO is working with its constituents and partners to conduct a Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) and shape the employment and social protection reconstruction strategy the country needs.
