The ILO LABADMIN/OSH Branch and the National Coordinator for FYR of Macedonia, presented to stakeholders the findings drawn from the comparative analysis and made recommendations at a session of the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Council, held on 24 October.

Representatives from the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy, the Labour Inspectorate, associations of OSH professionals and universities had a constructive and vivid dialogue about a variety of institutional questions including the establishment of an OSH Unit within the Ministry and development of a national data collection system. The Head of the Labour Department informed that the Ministry is currently setting up the OSH unit, which is expected to be operational by the end of 2018.

This is a major step in the development of the national OSH system and is believed to significantly strengthen the institutional capacity of the country to govern OSH
