Employers, parents and young workers themselves are often unaware of the special risks that youth face when they start to work. In Myanmar, SafeYouth@Work and the ILO Programme on the Elimination of Child Labour projects are joining forces to protect children and youth from exploitative and dangerous work. Recently they participated in a joint workshop in Yangon, to design informational outreach materials for target groups in the construction, agricultural, and clothing sectors.

Participants included a range of representation from government, trade unions, employer, and civil society organizations, as well as from different areas of the country. Based on this rich information exchange, participants successfully sketched out key messages and components for a Safe Work for Youth materials kit and developed a comprehensive plan for targeted messaging and distribution.

Similar activities are underway in Viet Nam and the Philippines as part of the SafeYouth@Work project.
