Programme on Safety and Health at Work and the Environment (SafeWork)

Based on the principle that Decent Work must be Safe Work, SafeWork aims to create worldwide awareness of the dimensions and consequences of work-related accidents and diseases; to place occupational safety and health (OSH) on the international and national agendas; and to provide support to the national efforts for the improvement of national OSH systems and programmes in line with relevant international labour standards.

    ILO says jobs in the green economy should be safe and healthy

    A new report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) launched for World Day for Safety and Health at Work says the greening of the economy should be accompanied by the proper integration of workplace safety and health measures.

    SOLVE training of trainers: Integrating health promotion in occupational safety and health policies (in French)

    The overall objective of this course is to develop knowledge and skills that will lead to the integration of the psychosocial and health promotion issues into a comprehensive enterprise policy and establish a framework for preventative action.

    SOLVE: Integrating health promotion into workplace OSH policies
    Instructional material, 18 April 2012

    The material covers nine topics: stress and economic stress, violence, tobacco and free smoke workplaces, alcohol and drug, nutrition, physical activity, healthy sleep, and HIV/AIDS. The package includes a participant's workbook, a trainer’s guide, lesson plans, and a CD-ROM with presentations and background material.
