The publication provides an overview of the beginning of the International Occupational Safety and Health Information Centre (CIS), its network development, the advent of computer technology, the main databases, the work in the developing world, and its current online activities such as the ILO Encyclopaedia of Occupational Health and Safety. It also reveals the CIS directors and coordinators over time as well as the first CIS National Centres who played a key role in the later development of the network.
