HAZARDOUS CARGO AND TOXIC WASTE IN INDIA

Recognizing that hazardous waste and hazardous cargo are neglected topics in India, the ITF set out to produce a manual for port and dock workers, educating them on the perils of transporting these materials. Through workshops and inputs from trade unionists, the project with ITF has raised the awareness, produced a substantial manual addressing the problems, trained educators to use the manual, and developed strong networks between local trade unions and NGO's concerned with hazardous cargo and toxic waste, and raised awareness of the issues.
