This case study examines an attempt by PSI/FFW to engage the management of two unionized firms in the Philippines in a partnership to promote environmental consciousness and to formulate bipartite policies and programmes in the workplace. This attempt in "greening the workplace" was test-piloted in two firms, United Pulp and Paper Co. and Superior Gas and Equipment Co. The firms were involved in focused group discussions and joint training workshops with PSI/FFW in coordination with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources in order to jointly identify the environmental issues to be addressed in the workplace and the steps to be taken to address these issues. The case study highlights the results of the bipartite cooperation, the formulation of the collective bargaining agreement greening provisions, and the efforts to create a comprehensive final "green agreement."
