Preamble to the statutes of The Association for Francophonie* at the ILO

Language expresses, forms and reflects culture. Cultural diversity, as plentiful as there are living cultures, is the wealth of humanity. Those who, having French as a common denominator, are attached to the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the values of social justice that it defends through tripartism, have chosen to come together to form The Association for Francophonie at the ILO.

The Association is open to all those who love the French language in the diversity of cultures in which it is expressed and to which it has given rise throughout the world and who wish to promote a multilingual culture in the life of the Organization.

* “Francophonie” is the phenomenon of speaking French – see http://french.about.com/cs/francophonie/
