| Universitas is a multidisciplinary programme of the ILO, specifically designed to include the different ILO sectors. It establishes clear partnerships with UN agencies and multi-bilateral donors to take forward the agenda of decent work and human development.

| Among other issues Universitas is contributing to: |
| • | Strengthening capacity in participating countries to use training and innovation to promote human development and decent work |
| • | Promoting an integrated approach to human development and decent work |
| • | Considering gender issues and promoting gender equity in all activities |
| • | Systematically linking research and training institutions and innovative development initiatives in the field |
| • | Supporting social dialogue in local development |
| • | Working in partnership with relevant organizations of the United Nations system, other international development cooperation agencies and interested universities and research institutes |
