The 6th edition of the ILO Thesaurus retains the same structure as the previous editions.
The following facet, subfacet and subsubfacet headings have been changed:
- 14.02.2 -> Child workers and young workers
- 03.02.1 -> Economy
- 03.02.3 -> Economic and social development
- 08.09.7 -> Sporting goods and toys
- 12.05 -> Human resources management
- 19 -> Information and information science
The following terms have been moved to different facets:
- administrative cost from 02.14.2 to 04.03.4 (Public administration)
- child labour from 14.02.2 to 13.01.2 (Labour market)
- public private mix from 03.04.7 to 02.03.2 (Social security schemes)
- social role from 05.03.3 to 05.03.5 (Social structure)
The revised version contains 200 new terms, including the following 32 former terms which have been replaced by new ones:

- AIDS testing -> HIV testing
- arduous working conditions -> hazardous work
- computer assisted instruction -> e-learning
- constant attendance allowance -> care allowance

All the terms (17) which use the word "country" have been changed to "countries":

108 terms have been deleted. As a result of these changes, the thesaurus now contains 4,219 terms (compared to 4,160 terms in the 5th ed.).
