ILO Publications

The ILO Library is the depository of all of the ILO's own publications, including publications of its offices around the world.

The best way to search for ILO publications is through Labordoc, the Library's database. Labordoc contains references to all ILO publications issued since 1919, including documents only available in electronic format.

Digital collection

In 2005, the Library embarked on an ambitious project to digitize all ILO publications not already in electronic format. By storing them in a stable repository, the ILO Library will be able to make the publications easily and instantly available to a wider audience as well as preserve ILO knowledge for the researchers of the future.

When searching Labordoc, look for the link indicating full text access.

International Labour Conference documents

The Library holds all the International Labour Conference documents starting from the First Session in 1919.

All Conference material is published and conserved in the Library in three languages: English, French and Spanish with certain series in seven languages (English, French, Spanish, German, Russian, Chinese and Arabic). The main documents are:

  • Record of Proceedings of the Conference
  • Reports submitted to the Conference
    • Report (I) by the Director-General
    • Report (II), concerning the programme and budget and other questions
    • Report (III), information concerning the application of Conventions and Recommendations.
    • Technical reports

Many documents are available online on the International Labour Conference website and in Labordoc.

ILO Governing Body documents

The Library has a complete print collection of the documents from the Governing Body sessions in English, French and Spanish. From the 267th session in November 1996, documents are available online at the ILO Governing Body website. References to documents from previous sessions can be found in Labordoc, with full text access in English, French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Russian and German from 1995.

Journals and magazines

The Library holds a complete collection of the ILO's main journals, magazines and newsletters, including those issued by its external offices. These include: Bulletin of Labour Statistics, Global Employment Trends, International Labour Review, Labour Education, World Employment Report and World of Work.

The collection includes publications for sale, official publications, training materials and working papers produced by the ILO, both print and online. It also includes books produced for sale by commercial publishers on behalf of the ILO.
