The 290th Session of the Governing Body will be held tomorrow, Friday 18 June, at 1000 in the ILO building. If the Conference completes its work this morning, the groups of the Governing Body will meet as shown below. If the Conference plenary has to continue this afternoon, then the new group meetings will be announced during that sitting.

The following Government members of the Governing Body should submit their credentials before 1200 today, Thursday 17 June, to office A-241: Bahamas, Belgium, Canada, Ecuador, Islamic Republic of Iran, Italy, Republic of Korea, Luxembourg, Mexico, Niger, Nigeria, Pakistan, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa, Uruguay.

Any memberState wishing to attend the Governing Body as an observer should also submit credentials to office A-241 before 1200 today.

 

International Training Centre of the ILO, Turin

 

Delegates are invited to visit the ILO Turin Centre information stand in the Salle des pas perdus to find out about its training and learning activities and to visit its new website www.itcilo.org.

 

60th anniversary exhibition

On the occasion of the 85th anniversary of the ILO and the 60th anniversary of the Declaration of Philadelphia, delegates are invited to visit an exhibition of documents and photographs entitled “Above the Storm: from Geneva to Philadelphia, 1939-1944”. The exhibition, which is in three parts, is located in the lobby area in front of the Governing Body room at the ILO. The first section covers the Emergency Committee, the 1939 Havana Conference, the transfer of the ILO to Montreal and the extraordinary session of the Conference in New York. The second showcase covers the 1942-1944 period leading up to the Philadelphia Conference in April 1944; the third, “Four lives, four fates”, attempts to show the different ways that the lives of three ILO officials and one delegate were affected by the wartime events.

 

ILO Department of Communication

 

The ILO Department of Communication (DCOMM) is handling inquiries from the media and  arranging for press coverage of the ILC. The DCOMM  Secretariat is located in Room A-641, Tel. 76700.

Whatever your language, you can understand the figures produced by the ILO Bureau of Statistics. Come and see the exhibition of labour statistics publications and browse the on-line database (http://laborsta.ilo.org), each day, in the Salle des pas perdus at the Palais des Nations.

 

International Labour Standards – Information and Assistance

 

The ILO’s International Labour Standards Department offers assistance at its information desk in the ILO building next to the Governing Body Room (R3). The stand is open from 13.00 to 15.00 each day and provides –

information on ILO Conventions and Recommendations and the reports of ILO supervisory bodies;
documentation on international labour standards, presented in electronic format (ILSE);
demonstrations of the ILO's legal information databases (ILOLEX and NATLEX);

 

ILO publications - ILO bookshop: 50 % discount

 

ILO publications can be purchased during the Conference from the ILO Publications Bookshop (open daily from 09.00 to 18.00), located on R2 South in the ILO library. A 50% discount on all publications will be offered to Conference participants. Those wishing to take advantage of this offer should show their badge when purchasing.

ILO Bureau of Library and Information Services

 

The ILO Library, the world's leading library in the field of work and work-related development and human rights issues, welcomes Conference participants. Delegates and ILO officials from the field may use all of the Library's facilities (including Internet access) and may borrow books for a period of one week. Reading areas are available in the main Reading Room and on the mezzanine floor.
The ILO Library is located on the R2 level (south) of the ILO building. Opening hours of the Reading Room: Monday-Friday: 09.00 to 18.00. E-mail and Internet access, room R2-105 (next to the Reading Room): Monday-Friday, 08.00 to 19.00, tel: 022 799 8682 (information desk), 022 799 8675 (secretariat).

Project IRIS
Project IRIS has been relocated to a newly partitioned area of the Library space on R2. This is a temporary arrangement involving approximately 80 project staff.
Special efforts have been made to minimize the disruption to staff and clients of the Library. A reading area and internet access will continue to be available to delegates and some additional seating has been provided on the mezzanine floor of the Library, next to the statistical section.
