Meeting of Experts on Workers' Health Surveillance

(Geneva, 2-9 September 1997)

Invitation of a non-governmental international organization

1.  The Director-General has received a request from the World Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) to be invited to be represented at the meeting by an observer. This organization has been invited to ILO meetings in the past, including the International Labour Conference.

2.  The Governing Body may wish to authorize the Director-General to invite the above organizations to be represented at the meeting by an observer.

Composition

3.  The Governing Body approved the agenda and composition formula for this meeting at its 267th Session (November 1996),(1) deciding that the meeting should be attended by 14 experts nominated after consultations with governments, six after consultations with the Employers' group, and six after consultations with the Workers' group of the Governing Body, and that the experts nominated should be well acquainted with the items on the agenda.

4.  The Director-General now submits the following nominations:

6. At its 268th Session (March 1997), the Governing Body authorized the holding of the above consultation, with a composition of four ILO (two Shipowner and two Seafarer) representatives and four WHO representatives.(2)

7.  The Director-General now submits the following nominations:

8.  The Governing Body may wish to approve the above nominations.

9.  The Director-General has received requests from the International Shipping Federation and the International Transport Workers' Federation to be invited to be represented at the consultation by observers.

10.  The Governing Body may wish to authorize the Director-General to invite the above organizations to be represented at the consultation by observers.
