Abstract
Between 1998 and 2000, the PRO-169 project's activities were primarily in connection with a UNDP-sponsored study on rural development in the country. This took the form of a four-part study comprising the following elements: i) Rural Development Management; ii) Rural Development Policies; iii) the future role of Integrated Rural Access Planning (IRAP); and iv) Ethnic Minority Issues. Within this framework, the Project supervised a study on Ethnic Minorities in Rural Development in the Lao PDR. It also provided policy advice to the Lao Front for National Construction - the focal point for indigenous and tribal peoples issues in Laos.
