Democratic Republic of Congo: Batwa, Bacwa and Bambuti "Pygmies"
Start date: April 2003
End date: August 2003
Abstract
The PRO-169 project's support to "Pygmies" in DRC is on a small scale at present, due mainly to unstable conditions, and also due to the fact that issues specifically pertaining to indigenous and tribal peoples have not yet become widely discussed here. Currently, the PRO-169 project is supporting a project to translate ILO Convention No. 169 into cartoon format. Given the high levels of illiteracy among "Pygmies" here, this is a valuable method of communication. The cartoons will be used to disseminate information on human rights questions to local "Pygmy" communities.
