Joint Communiqué between the Staff Union Committees
of the Turin Center and the ILO

The Representatives of the Committees have identified areas of common concern and pledge to work together to achieve their objectives, most notably:

  1. To associate the Turin Center Representatives with the Joint Negotiating Committee in Geneva concerning matters of mutual concern in order to enlarge the coverage of collective agreements;

  2. Concerning the policy of filling vacant posts, permit staff to compete in competitions at all duty stations, and to work towards the establishment of transparent and equitable procedures.

  3. In the context of a policy of mobility linked to staff career development, promote the exchange of personnel, including temporary exchanges, between ILO programmes and those in the Turin Center.

  4. Establishing at the heart of the Organization an integrated approach to human resource development, notably in evaluation, promotion, training and personal career development plans.

  5. Exchange of information between the two Committees on strategies to promote gender equality.

  6. To work together on matters related to Pensions and the Staff Health Fund, particularly the improvement of payments and allowances available.

  7. Establishment of a permanent working group of the two Union Committees with the objective of reinforcing, at all levels and at all duty stations, the representation of staff in the Organization.

To facilitate communication and to allow for the development of joint strategies on the above points, the Representatives of the two Unions commit to the organization of at least three annual meetings preceding the Governing Body in Geneva in March, the International Labour Conference and the Governing Body of the Turin Center in November.
