Following upon the decision
made during the first session of the 2005 General
meeting, which was held on 27 January (see bulletin
1335), the Staff Union Committee requested its
affiliation with CCISUA, the Coordinating Committee
for International Staff Unions and Associations
of the United nations System.
We
just received confirmation that our request had
been accepted, and our membership with CCISUA begun
on 1 March 2005. The Staff Union Committee welcomes
this opportunity to work still more efficiently
for the improvement in employment and working conditions
within the common system. We also expect a lot from
our collaboration henceforth organizational with
Associations and Union in other organizations also
members of CCISUA, like the UN Staff Union in New
York, United nations in Geneva, Vienna or Nairobi,
the UN Regional Commissions, UNHCR, UNICEF and many
more.
The
next CCISUA Assembly will be heed in New York from
6 to 10 June 2005, and the ILO Staff Union will
be represented on that occasion.
