YOUR CHANCE TO BE A UNION STEWARD
IS NOW !
The Staff Union Committee
attaches a great importance to the work of Union Stewards
and their liaison role with members and non-members
and their collaboration and consultations with the SUC.
A new list
of constituencies is attached. A simplified and
on-going procedure for the election of Union Stewards
is now in place and this procedure is automatically
set in motion whenever the Staff Union Secretariat receives
a nomination for a vacant Union Steward post. Details
of the new procedure are shown on the attached nomination
form.
You are encouraged to
seriously consider becoming involved as a Union Steward.
The work is both stimulating and personally rewarding
and indeed made much easier by the achievements of the
various Collective Agreements negotiated in the past
two years and which include the recent appointment of
an Ombudsperson. Please feel free to call and discuss
your interest with myself or the SUC Secretariat.

UNION STEWARD ELECTION
The nomination must
be submitted in due form (acceptance by the candidate,
who must be a Union member, with the signatures of at
least three Union members working in the unit in question).
Upon receipt of the nomination
the Staff Union Secretariat will immediately issue a
call for candidatures in the constituency. The deadline
for the submission of nominations will then be ten working
days and if other candidatures are submitted a formal
election will be held.
The list of candidates
will then be issued by the Returning Officers within
five (working) days, and the vote will be conducted,
using specially provided ballot boxes, within the following
20 working days. If no additional nominations are received,
then the original candidate will be declared elected.

Le Comité du syndicat
du personnel accorde une grande importance aux activités
des délégués de service et à
leur rôle de liaison avec les membres et les non
membres, tout comme à leurs activités
de coopération et de consultation menées
avec le Comité du Syndicat.
La nouvelle liste des circonscriptions
est jointe à ce bulletin. Une procédure
simplifiée et permanente d'élection des
délégués de services est désormais
en vigueur. Elle est automatiquement mise en oeuvre
chaque fois que le secrétariat du Syndicat reçoit
un formulaire de candidature pour un poste vacant de
délégué de service. Vous trouverez

joint en annexe.

C'est une activités stimulante et gratifiante
dont la charge a été considérablement
allégée ces deux dernières années
grâce aux différents accords conclus; l'un
d'eux est à l'origine de la récente nomination

DE SERVICE
Le formulaire de dépôt
de candidature doit être dûment présenté
par l'intéressé, qui doit être membre
du Syndicat, et ce formulaire doit être accompagné
de la signature d'au moins trois membres du Syndicat
travaillant dans l'unité concernée.
Dès réception
du formulaire de candidature, le secrétariat
du Syndicat lance immédiatement un appel à
candidatures dans la circonscription. Le délai
accordé pour la soumission de ces candidatures
est de dix jours ouvrables, et si d'autres candidats
se présentent, des élections formelles
sont organisées.
Les scrutateurs établissent
alors une liste des candidats dans les cinq jours ouvrables
et des élections ont lieu, au moyen d'urnes prévues
à cette fin, dans les 20 jours ouvrables qui
suivent. Si aucune autre candidature n'est présentée,
le candidate initial est déclaré élu.
