This year the IAGames took place
in Alicante, seen here from the hotel that the volleyball team was in ...
NOT!
That zig-zag building with the red roof is
the Hotel Melia where, you guessed it, the golfers were staying. Who would
want to stay there anyhow? I mean, one little tidal wave and the place is
history, right?
This where it all happened, the
gym Don Alejandro del Athith el Grandissimo. The girls are soaking in the
atmosphere prior to their first game. |
Oh yeah, they're smiling now -
but little did they know what was in store for them! |
Warming up before one of their
games. The keen observer will no doubt note the net on the right hand side
of the picture. Go figure! |
As optical illusions go, this
one is pretty good. Here's Alison holding an over-sized volleyball while
Marianne practices her Jedi moves with a make-believe light saber. |
Ah, pure style and grace. |
Is that air I see between the
ground and Alison's feet?
Another optical illusion, no doubt.
Aase quietly gets on with
warming up as Barbara gets clobbered by a killer volleyball. |
Marci and Anna were busy doing a
little preparation of their own, seen here pouring a questionable powder,
cleverly disguised as Isotar, into their opponents' drinking water. |
Let the games commence. The
mandatory line-up prior to each game to receive the adulation of the.... |
...hords of people who came to
watch and support! |
Now in full swing, the ILO girls
showing IFAD a thing ... or 25. |
The girls take a time-out to
gather around to see Hil's new nail polish.
Ok, that's not quite what happened. This
was actually a strategy meeting (oh, very ILO).
Victory was ours! (um, our score
is on the right) |
Of course it wasn't all hard
work. Between matches the girls re-energized themselves with a nutrious
slice of pizza - and when they weren't eating, they were ... |
... practicing on the beach. |
Outside the gym Don Alejandro
... our motley crew. |
Anna celebrated her 5th birthday
in style ... seen here reviewing the troops before they went into battle. |
Attennnnnnnnn...tion! |
The fort atop the hill was
hastily built to try to keep the invading IAG participants out - but we
fooled them all by arriving by air rather than sea. |
Chilling out at the marina
wasn't so bad. |
Oh, and where was Alex the whole
time? Cruising on his yatch... |
