alic-sea.jpg (214464 bytes) This year the IAGames took place in Alicante, seen here from the hotel that the volleyball team was in ... NOT!

That zig-zag building with the red roof is the Hotel Melia where, you guessed it, the golfers were staying. Who would want to stay there anyhow? I mean, one little tidal wave and the place is history, right?

alic-chill02.jpg (194146 bytes) This where it all happened, the gym Don Alejandro del Athith el Grandissimo. The girls are soaking in the atmosphere prior to their first game.
alic-chill01.jpg (170864 bytes) Oh yeah, they're smiling now - but little did they know what was in store for them!
alic-warmup.jpg (208174 bytes) Warming up before one of their games. The keen observer will no doubt note the net on the right hand side of the picture. Go figure!
alic-marianne.jpg (182546 bytes) As optical illusions go, this one is pretty good. Here's Alison holding an over-sized volleyball while Marianne practices her Jedi moves with a make-believe light saber.
alic-barbara.jpg (186875 bytes) Ah, pure style and grace.
alic-alison.jpg (201447 bytes) Is that air I see between the ground and Alison's feet?

Another optical illusion, no doubt.

alic-aase.jpg (180267 bytes) Aase quietly gets on with warming up as Barbara gets clobbered by a killer volleyball.
alic-poison.jpg (171599 bytes) Marci and Anna were busy doing a little preparation of their own, seen here pouring a questionable powder, cleverly disguised as Isotar, into their opponents' drinking water.
alic-lineup.jpg (176129 bytes) Let the games commence. The mandatory line-up prior to each game to receive the adulation of the....
alic-crowds.jpg (207127 bytes) ...hords of people who came to watch and support!
alic-action01.jpg (208652 bytes) Now in full swing, the ILO girls showing IFAD a thing ... or 25.
alic-huddle.jpg (160367 bytes) The girls take a time-out to gather around to see Hil's new nail polish.

Ok, that's not quite what happened. This was actually a strategy meeting (oh, very ILO).

alic-score.jpg (30531 bytes) Victory was ours! (um, our score is on the right)
alic-pizza02.jpg (186256 bytes) Of course it wasn't all hard work. Between matches the girls re-energized themselves with a nutrious slice of pizza - and when they weren't eating, they were ...
alic-beach.jpg (265925 bytes) ... practicing on the beach.
alic-gang.jpg (215306 bytes) Outside the gym Don Alejandro ... our motley crew.
alic-anna02.jpg (184507 bytes) Anna celebrated her 5th birthday in style ... seen here reviewing the troops before they went into battle.
alic-anna01.jpg (182072 bytes) Attennnnnnnnn...tion!
alic-marina01.jpg (215079 bytes) The fort atop the hill was hastily built to try to keep the invading IAG participants out - but we fooled them all by arriving by air rather than sea.
alic-marina02.jpg (229463 bytes) Chilling out at the marina wasn't so bad.
alic-sailing.jpg (216767 bytes) Oh, and where was Alex the whole time? Cruising on his yatch...
