Technical cooperation ILO and UNHCR

A partnership between the ILO and UNHCR (the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) has been operational since February 2004 to promote livelihood recovery in post conflict areas all over the world.

The experts work to create employment and income-generating opportunities for refugees, since this is an essential condition for them to be able to live by their own means. The programme covers several technical areas, such as micro-finance, development of small enterprises, local economic development, support to cooperatives, vocational training, gender mainstreaming and occupational policies. The Italian Foreign Ministry Technical Cooperation supports 14 projects in different parts of the world.
