On June 8 Russian President Vladimir Putin congratulated Guy Ryder upon his election as Director-General of the International Labour Organization.
“The Russian Federation highly appreciates activity of the ILO – one of the most authoritative international organizations that since its creation has been consecutively translating into life the ideals of fair labour, protects the interests of workers and their right to decent working conditions, occupational safety and adequate social security,” according to the president’s message.
Putin emphasized that “unique arrangement of the ILO based on the principles of equal representation of governments, employers and workers guarantees that decisions taken by the Organization are well-balanced and targeted at achieving long-term social development goals.”
“Using this occasion I would like to confirm the Russian Federation’s strong adherence to active social policy as well as its intention to continue close cooperation with the Organization,” the message read.
