• Trade union movement development discussed in Azerbaijan
  31 January 2010. In January a second meeting of the Council of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation took place in Baku. It brought together members of the elected bodies of the Trade Union Confederation and trade unionists.
• ILO Global Employment Trends 2010. Unemployment reached highest level on record in 2009. Somavia calls for the same policy decisiveness that saved banks to save and create jobs
  27 January 2010. The number of jobless worldwide reached nearly 212 million in 2009 following an unprecedented increase of 34 million compared to 2007, on the eve of the global crisis, the International Labour Office (ILO) said in its annual Global Employment Trends report.
• ILO Study Room opens at economics faculty of Moscow State University
  25 January 2010. On January 25, the ILO Study Room was opened at the Faculty of Economics of the Lomonosov Moscow State University.
  At the ribbon-cutting ceremony the Study Room was unveiled by the Dean of the Economics Gaculty, Professor Vasily Kolesov and Officer-in-Charge of the ILO Moscow Office, Employers Activities Senior Specialist Shurenchimeg Zokhiot.
• Introducing modern OSH management system in North West Russia
  19 January 2010. This year the Leningrad region labour and employment committee continues cooperation with the ILO within the framework of the Project on Improving OSH System in North-West Russia.
  On January 19 in compliance with the plan of joint actions the committee and the ILO held a roundtable meeting at the company Philip Morris Izhora to discuss prospects for the introduction of modern OSH management system at enterprises on the basis of interstate standard GOST 12.0.230-2007.
