Conference on the findings of the ”Research on HIV/AIDS related sikhness rate with temporary disability among medical workers of the Republic of Tajikistan”.
6 December 2007. Conference on the findings of the ”Research on HIV/AIDS related sickness rate with temporary disability among medical workers of the Republic of Tajikistan” took place in Dushanbe, December 6 on the initiative of the the Union of Health Care Workers of Tajikistan (Chairman Mr Usmanov - coordinator of the Research) with the ILO support.
The tripartite conference was attended by TU Chairman Mr Salilhov and TU focal point on HIV/AIDS deputy chairman Mr Imankulov, Union of Employers’ Chairman Mr Sharipov and UE focal point on HIV/AIDS deputy Chairman Mr Davlatbekov, Specialist of the Agency of Social Protection on behalf of the Ministry of Labour, Deputy Health Minister Mr. Mirzoev, Director of the National AIDS Center Mr Ruziev, Directors and specialists of Tajikistan leading institutions in prevention medicine, infectious deceases, tuberculosis, medical institutions.
The participants to the conference were informed of the situation with HIV/AIDS in the country, received information on the findings, on the ILO approaches and tools related to HIV/AIDS at the workplace and in particular on ILO/WHO Guidelines for Health Care workers.
The conference discussed future actions and developed recommendations to be forwarded to parties concerned (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Labour, Social partners).
International Day of Disabled Persons. ILO calls for new efforts to support people with disabilities in the world of work.
3 December 2007. Despite significant progress in recent years in improving their livelihoods, new efforts are needed to break down barriers that still prevent millions of people with disabilities from working and contributing to the economic growth of their societies, according to a new ILO report released for the International Day of Disabled Persons on 3 December.
