27 April 2012. “Since 2005 we’ve made a great step forward to switch to a new model of occupational safety and health,” Deputy Health and Social Development Minister Alexander Safonov told a research conference on modernization of Russia’s occupational safety and health legislation that was devoted to the World Day for Safety and Health at Work.

UNAIDS and ITUC to work together to increase access to HIV services for workers
25 April 2012. The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) have signed a memorandum of understanding to eliminate stigma and discrimination, protect human rights and facilitate access to HIV prevention, treatment, care and support for workers.

Russia to ratify ILO Paid Educational Leave Convention
20 April 2012. A draft federal law on ratification of the ILO Paid Educational Leave Convention, 1974 (No.140) will be submitted to the government for consideration soon.

Kazakh agency reports HIV incidence statistics
13 April 2012. In all 171 new carriers of HIV infection were registered in Kazakhstan in February 2012, and at the same time the figure for the same period of 2011 is 180, the Kazakh State Statistics Agency has reported.
