Mark Levin joined the SRO-Budapest Office as Director in December 2008. Before taking up his duties in Budapest he served as Chief of the Human Resources Policies and Development Branch in the ILO's Human Resources Development Department in Geneva.
After joining the ILO in 1996 Mark Levin worked in the field of human resources development in cooperatives before becoming Head of the Management Support Unit of the Employment Sector in 2003. He has coordinated a number of International Labour Conference committee secretariats, including the Human Resources Development Committee in 2003 and 2004 and served as Deputy Representative of the Secretary-General at the 2005 International Labour Conference discussion on Youth Employment.
Prior to joining the ILO, he was employed from 1982 to 1996 as Senior Lecturer at the International Institute (formerly Afro-Asian Institute) of the Histadrut, Israel's General Federation of Labour, specialising in labour and cooperative leadership training for officials of trade unions, cooperatives, ministries of labour and community organizations in Africa, Asia, the Americas and Central and Eastern Europe. In 1994, he was appointed Deputy Director of the Institute.
Mark Levin graduated with an Honours degree in Sociology from the Polytechnic of North London (United Kingdom) and undertook postgraduate Labour Studies at Tel Aviv University (Israel).
