From 25 November until 6 December 1996 a training
seminar was held in Budapest for 14 labour information specialists from
government labour units coming from Belarus, Bulgaria, Estonia, Hungary,
Latvia, Poland, Romania and Slovakia, as well as from the ILO Offices in
Ankara and Moscow and from Hungarian trade unions.
The main objective of the seminar organised jointly by the ILO Central
Library and the ILO-CEET was to promote ILO information techniques and
methodologies, to expose the participants to ILO information products and
to provide them with ILO information tools including Micro-CDS/ISIS (UNESCO
library information package for computerisation) for Windows and BIBL (ILO
Central Library database for Micro-CDS/ISIS).The training was organised
and carried out by Ms. Cañadas-Mejia from the ILO Central Library
and Ms. Bakos from the CEET Library. The Seminar benefited from the active
participation of Ms. Thomas from the Bureau of International Education/UNESCO,
Mr. Hegedus from the National Library of Hungary, Ms. Pinter from the Library
of Parliament, Ms. Jourdan from ILO Publications Department.
The Seminar was opened by the Director of the ILO-CEET and closed by
Mrs. Eleanor G. Frierson, Chief of the Central Library and Documentation
Bureau of the ILO. The main output of the seminar was the training on ILO
information procedures and methodologies, provision of ILO information
tools, provision MicroISIS package for Windows and BIBL database.This outcome
will strengthen the ILO-CEETs capacity to provide labour information services
