Main programme purpose Development objective : contribute to the elimination of child labour by providing a rapid response to the impact of the earthquake on child labour in the effected areas. Immediate objective : to withdraw 1000 working children and children at high risk of becoming child labourers from work and provide them with rehabilitative, educational, health, nutrition, psycho-social and crisis counselling services while assisting their families through the provision of social support, to strengthen the capacity of SÇHEK to contribute to the prevention of child labour and the rehabilitation of child labourers, to sensitise the public in general, local administrators and in particular the planning bodies on the problem of child labour, establishment of temporary (phase 1) and permanent (phase 2) centres for working children in Gölcük and Adapazari.
Target group Direct recipients : 1000 boys and girls between the ages of 6-14 identified as having been in employment before the earthquake and children who are now at the risk of becoming child labourers and their parents, the SHÇEK central and provincial staff, regional governmental and non-governmental institutions.
Number of target groups Reached

Children : 1086 children (5-12 age 89, 12-16 age 75 total 164 girls and 5-12 age 469, 12-16 age 453 total 922 boys) have been reached. 53 working street children have been withdrawn from work and directed to education system (28 to boarding school-YIBO and 25 to primary education). 15 working street children have been enrolled to the vocational training system. Health status of a total of 82 children have been improved and medical expenses were covered by project sources. Nutritional support for a total of 650 children has been provided in a weekly basis. 1086 children have been provided with sport clothes, shoes and T-shirts for educational support. 594 working street children have been provided with educational materials such as school uniforms, books, and stationary. 13 working children have been attended summer camp. 350 children have been attended to sport and social activities such as drawing, cinema, chess, soccer, and picnic. Educational and psycho-social services have been provided to the 140 working street children in a daily basis.
Families : 820 families of working street children have been informed about the social services available to them and sensitised to the problem of child labour.

Achievements Rehabilitation centres were established in Gölcük and Adapazari. Training models for the new personnel have been prepared by SHÇEK and HQ and sent to the provincial directories.
